Stellenbosch University
Stellenbosch University is in a student town 40 km outside of Cape Town's city center. It is situated in the middle of wine farms and amazing views.

There are many options for accommodation. University provide housing for a number of students in Academia which is one of the biggest dorms around the school. You can also choose to stay in house which will almost cost the same. Some of the popular houses are Pool House and Beach House but be quick they fill up quite fast. If you are struggling to find accommodation go to Facebook group Second Hand For Stellenbosch. It is a closed group but if you message them they will accept you. You can find housing, room, furniture and bike etc in that group. Just post a message in the group.
For other choices just make sure that the house is not far from the campus. Since there are no public transport you will either walk or bike. Maties Bike is a good option if you want to rent. Also stay away from Bird Street, it is not the best street to live on.
You can also rent a car which is cheaper compared to other countries. However be careful, traffic is on the other side just like England. Also they are quite strict about speed limits. Car might be a good idea for going to Cape Town on weekends or for taking little hiking trips.

If you don't have a car, Uber is the best option. People Uber everywhere. It is much cheaper than the taxi plus safer. Uber drivers tend to be very talkative, they are just trying to be friendly, give them a good rating. Taxis are not very common in Cape Town and also they usually scam you, you will be glad to use Uber.
Don't use the train if you are alone. It is not safe. Only use the train if you are in a crowded group and use it withing the busy hours. Crime rate is quite high in South Africa so keep an eye on your belonging all the time and don't show them while you are traveling.
