MANY Reasons to Join Events
Generally, I am the person who wants to join every single event. Everyone knows me the first exchange I experienced because I was too active but it does not mean it is always like that. Sometimes I feel more homesick than all other exchange students. However, I found a way to overcome this problem. Because JOINING EVERY SINGLE EVENT IS SO MUCH FUN! Believe it or not. So, in this post, I will be sharing my secrets to get the most of it from the exchange.

For example, you may need to do so many things. Homework, exams etc. However, in this situation please remind yourself that you are an exchange student and believe it or not getting a good grade is nothing if you turn back home and regret. So, remind yourself how many days you have left and believe it or not the counted days fly so easily. Force yourself. In each event that I felt like I don't wanna join and then forced myself to join at least a half hour. (This is the best trick I did so far. However, if you come with much better, please share with me!) Generally, even though you go for half an hour, it ends with 2 or so. Once, I went to event half an hour late and I stayed there almost 3 hours! (The event was supposed to last 2 hours) Moreover, you are going there to have fun. If you are not enjoying then just leave. No one can or will judge you. The best part of the exchange, each of us learn how to not care about what others talk about you. However, I am pretty sure that you will like it. From another perspective, if you did not like the first event you go, please do not overgeneralize. The first try can be suck but it doesn't mean that all will be same.
The most important part is to avoid being critical. Please do not worry if you have never done the event before like going to ice hockey or playing cricket. Give it a try, believe it or not, but you can find different selves in you. So, do not hesitate to try. If you do not like any events the host university is doing then do one and show how it is rolling! We have so many great experiences because of Koc University and of course we had knowledge how things go. So, be brave and show them the Turkish Style! If none of my comments work, please contact me. You can find my email address by just writing my name on Koc e-mail. I respond quickly, so do it!
