Life in Tübingen from Merve

About accommodation, does the university have any dorms for students or do students have to find accommodation on their own? If the university has the accommodation opportunity for students, is it easy to get into the dorms? If the student has to find on his/her own, is there any easy way to search it such as site, application or anything else.

The university shares a housing service with you. Its name is “Studenwerk Tübingen”. It is easy to get into dorms, if you apply in specified time period. If you apply late, there is a possibility that it does not plan a room for you.

After get off the plane, what is the easy and cheap way to get to the centre?

You can use the bus “828” and get off at the HölderlinStraBe or Neckarbrücke. You can also use flixbus but its stations are much more complicated than 828.

For students, in order to have no problem while they are going to university, which places would you recommend them to find room?

Actually Tübingen is a small city, so it does not matter but WHO (the name of dorm) is the best option I think. French area is far away from the university and options of busses are limited.

As a student who live in the city that the university is located, how is the life around the city?

It depends on that what you expect. If you like a small cities, natural environments it is a good city for you. You can rent a bicycle or walk and hang out at the student cafes or parties. But I do not like so much, cause food options were limited. And I prefer big cities so after 1-2 months, I get bored.

How much a student need for a month to live? (With accomodation or without)

It should be 400-500 euros without accommodation.

How much the accomodation were when you were staying? Could you estimate a range that may vary depending on where you live in the city?

Dorms prices changes between 260-300 euros. So I think it is fair until 300 euros.

Is there any bank automat in the campus? What does a student do if they wanna have bank account? Does it necessary? Do locals in the university area mostly use credit card or cash? Is it necessary to bring some cash with us?

You need to open an account at “Kreisseparkasse” bank. You will pay your rent via this bank. Yes it is necessary, it is required by the dorm.

You can put money to your student card if you do not want to use cash.
