Initial application forms needed

* All initial application fees are waived for exchange students. Waived fees include:

  •  $10 application fee for non-degree students

  •  $40 international admission fee

  •  $500 international student enrollment

1) Special Application for Non-Degree Students (paper copy, do not apply online)

2) English-proficiency official scores **please have scores sent to USC using code – 5818 when taking the TOEFL exam, as well as an unofficial copy to our office

TOEFL: 600 paper-based test, 100 internet-based test

IELTS: 7.0

- Exchange students must certify: $5,950 US per semester (4 months)** $13,387 US per academic year (9 months)**

for living expenses (housing, food, books, health insurance, miscellaneous) while at USC.

** our office will notify partners of annual changes in certification amounts

6) Photocopy of passport

Please e-mail/fax/mail completed forms to the Study Abroad Office, not the Admissions Office.

Forms to be completed by student after acceptance (will be emailed to student by Study Abroad Office)

1) Immunization form (Students cannot register for courses until this form is on file with USC’s Health Center) 2) Course preferences and housing form 3) Arrival assistance request online (optional)

4) USC insurance enrolment or waiver

Courses of study which are open to exchange students

*Courses available during the fall semester (August-December) will be posted in mid-March. Courses available during the spring semester (January-May) will be posted in mid-November.

Students may enroll in any course for which they meet the prerequisite. Courses are offered on a per semester basis only and are subject to availability. Registration will be done by the Study Abroad Office prior to the student’s arrival. All efforts will be made to place exchange students in their requested courses, but all requests cannot be gauranteed. Students will have the opportunity to change their schedule upon arrival.

Type of accommodation offered

*Exchange students are required to live on campus.

Exchange students usually stay in the Quads, Carolina International House at Maxcy College (Maxcy), Bates-West or any of the Horseshoe apartments, although they can be placed anywhere on-campus. These options can vary based on availability. Students are required to purchase renter’s insurance, approximately $200/semester. Housing is guaranteed but preferences are not. Students are placed on a first come, first serve basis. For more information on housing at USC, please visit: http://www.housing.sc.edu/virtualtour/index.html

*Students who would like to live in the International House at Maxcy College will have to submit a supplemental application form. Please note that all rooms in Maxcy are shared rooms (2 occupants per room).
