Information for Incoming Exchange Students 2017/18

SCHOOL OF ARTS AND SOCIAL SCIENCES (SASS)

Situated right at the heart of one of the world's greatest financial and political centres, SASS is part of the leading international university that has over 18,000 students from more than 150 countries and staff from over 75 countries.

Application: Exchange students must be nominated by one of our partner universities and will then be sent application form. Applicants must ensure that they have a passport, most recent transcript of results, academic reference and English language test results. They also have to write a personal statement explaining why they wish to study at SASS. If an application is successful the student will be issued with an acceptance letter, student number, supporting visa documentation, where applicable, and guidance for the next stage of admissions. Module Selection: Students will need provisionally select their modules before arrival. A selection of modules run by the School of Arts and Social Sciences can be found on the website: http://www.city.ac.uk/arts-social-sciences; for specific information please contact SASS.Exchanges@city.ac.uk

Accommodation: Due to high demand for student halls there are unfortunately extremely limited places for semester contracts. Prices and room availability are available on request through Study Abroad Office: study- abroad@city.ac.uk. The Student Centre has a range of information on various properties for rent in the private sector. They can be contacted for advice via email: accomm@city.ac.uk. Assessment and Grading: Courses are assessed by coursework and examination. A grade of 40% for each component of the course is required to pass.

It is possible to take an official alternative examination assessment to be completed during term time rather than returning to the university for the main exam period – this can be registered in the first week. The last day of term would then be the last day of the teaching period.
